Technology can improve communication, as it would allow seniors to remain active in the community without feeling the need to isolate themselves because of the difficulty with hearing. Automation has allowed for their socialization to continue, limiting their self isolation due to feelings of embarrassment or increased frustration. It provides the ability to hear the movie, hear the performer, participate in the meeting, and have a conversation with their care staff, improving their quality of life. They no longer feel secluded or that they can’t participate.
