My name is Gwen D’Amico, and I’m the memory care director at Chestnut Hill Senior Living.
In honor of Women’s History Month, I want to take a moment to celebrate Norma, one of our neighborhood residents!
Norma B. grew up in Grove City, Ohio, later spending most of her adult life in Gahanna, Ohio with her husband. She says the two met while roller skating, and were inseparable after that.
The pair loved to go on cruises, having been on at least 25. Some of Norma’s favorite destination spots are Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Hawaii, and Germany.
Norma began her career as a secretary at Columbia Gas Company two days after she graduated high school, and she worked there for 42 years. Upon retirement, she spent much of her time volunteering at her church. Norma enjoys listening to old gospel hymns, singing familiar songs, and dancing.
