Assigned Life Enrichment Coordinators
We believe quality care begins with strong relationships. We pair Life Enrichment Coordinators and residents as a team – so personalized bonds of trust and friendship can be developed over time.
Security isn’t restriction. Safety isn’t constant monitoring. This is a resident’s home and they need to be comfortable and cared for without feeling like Big Brother is always watching them. We make every effort to integrate resident safety in discreet ways. The design of the memory care cottage focuses not just on comfort and ease of navigation, but on security.
Specialized activity stations, called Life Stations™, are strategically placed within our memory care cottage to promote engagement opportunities for residents. These areas are carefully crafted to resemble important aspects of life to capture residents’ attention and promote a sense of purpose. Our Life Enrichment Coordinators also create life boxes that are specific to memory care residents!
Sometimes memory loss symptoms and behaviors become difficult to deal with. At these times it can feel like the only way to provide care is to restrict travel or what the sufferer is allowed to do. But at Chestnut Hill we have the means and expertise to do the difficult tasks to get residents re-engaged with life.
One undeniably difficult symptom of memory loss is the toll it takes on diet. From changing tastes to loss of appetite, challenges can exacerbate such issues as malnutrition. Utilizing and engaging all five senses, Chestnut Hill has developed methods for exciting the appetite and helping residents re-connect with their love of food.
Alzheimer’s and other dementias can make once automatic grooming habits seem impossible. Residents at Chestnut Hill receive daily attention in this area, as well as regular trips to our salon. We want to ensure that they always feel presentable and proud of their appearance.
Providing care for residents with dementia is a highly specialized skill – one that we develop with best courses in empathy, communication, and personal care. All of our Life Enrichment Coordinators must go through extensive, continuing training so they are knowledgeable about the most current care methods and understanding of Alzheimer’s.
You may have an excellent team of qualified and passionate care givers, but without proper coordination and stalwart motivation, that group of people will be ineffective, at best. That is why our leadership team is carefully selected and filled with exceptional, dedicated individuals who know how to make a plan and implement it. Their love for the work and the residents paired with their team management skills and group of incredible life enrichment coordinators make for a truly remarkable memory care environment.
